BROOKLYN, NEW YORK – There is clearly a definite problem going on in the world when it comes to how we treat each other these days. Bullying has become a norm and there is a loss for empathy and consideration of ones needs.

Today, we live in an environment that is filled with anger, hostility and various forms of “bullying”. Whether it is “cyber-bully”, physical abuse, or verbal, it exist in our current society at an all-time high. It is the cause of most youth suicide and now murders. It is important that we teach confidence in conjunction with tolerance. Tools that will allow youth to articulate stand up to bullies as well as improve skills in literacy. By combining the two in learning, we hope to accomplish addressing improving a multitude of social issues that are the result of childhood bullying.

THEO THE HERO BOOK AND LITERACY PROGRAM

Theo Ratliff shares the story of his childhood experience with bullying, and most significantly, the lesson. he learned about dealing with bullies from the positive  perspective and advice given to him by his mother, Camilia Ratliff-Eatman. Written by Author Michael Harris and illustrated by Jonathan Ellis, “Theo The Hero” has been, and continues to be, an ideal teaching tool for school staff, parents and children who want to build and share communities that will not tolerate such destructive behavior.
